Small coffee shop with an in house roaster. Lots of good seasonal rotations on offer along with multiple types of Kyoko style coldbrew. Great selection of both sweet and savory pastries are available as well. Space inside is pretty tight, and there's a window to the roaster in the back. Some nice art on the wall and very friendly staff. Solid choice for a good coffee.
Coffee Lab & Roasters in Lakeview is my go-to when I need a caffeine fix and a chill spot to get some work done. Last time, I grabbed their Kyoto-style cold brew (5.50)—super smooth, no bitterness, and packed with flavor. I also tried the spinach & feta croissant (5.75), which was flaky and delicious. The vibe here is cozy and modern, with plenty of natural light and friendly baristas who know their stuff. It's a great place to hang out, whether you're catching up with friends or just need some alone time with a good cup of coffee. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the neighborhood.
This was my first time visiting CL & R. We ordered 3 specialty lattes and a macchiato. All 4 drinks tasted great! We definitely want to go back and try their other drink options. Also, the pastries in the food case looked delicious! Service was kind and friendly and the overall atmosphere was positive and welcoming! I’m excited that we found this place through our Chicago Cafe Passport and rate it 5/5 coffee beans!
Coffee Lab offers specialty coffee, cold brew, pour-over, and a variety of single origin house beans. During my visit, I ordered a light roast Ethiopian drip and was pleased with its quality. They also offer a selection of dairy-free pastry, and I quite enjoyed the Earl Grey loaf. While seating is somewhat limited, there are some great window spots overlooking the street and a few tables in the back that are good for laptop work or just hanging out.
They have the best quality and fresh roast beans making for a nice cappuccino. The baristas are an absolute delight to talk to, really friendly and nice. 10/10 for this coffee shop. They have some interesting seasonal drinks too
I’ve lived in Chicago for 10 years and this is hands down the best coffee spot I’ve found. My husband and I visit once a week and look forward to it each week! Whether it’s a hot or cold coffee, decaf, or matcha drink, they never miss. The pastries and quiches are great too. We’re moving this summer and I will miss having this place near by!

Coffee Lab & Roasters is an excellent, dog-friendly neighborhood coffee shop with a wonderful staff and just as wonderful coffee. I am a latte drinker and they have the best lattes (hot or iced) and seasonal flavors that could go toe-to-toe with any coffee shop in the city. This is a long overdue review - I've been coming here consistently for about a year and they hit the mark every single time. A good selection of pastries and coffee options, and they also carry some dairy free/gluten free pastries for anyone looking for that. The wait is worth it on the weekends and the line moves quickly.
